genealogy ancestry south west scotland
I have lived in Whithorn, in the south of Scotland for the past 76 years. During that time I served as a Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages for over 50 years. Being a Registrar brought me into contact with many people from all over the world, as far as New Zealand and the United States, who wished to know about their ancestors who came from Whithorn and District.
As a consequence I have set up this website in order to offer my services in tracing ancestry, covering some 20 kirkyards (cemeteries) in the “Machars” - which covers the South-West part of Scotland - or Galloway. The western part is known as the “Rhins”.
